October Mountains
R Meadow Garden - October 2025
October Mountains
The mountains in October hold a beauty like no other month. The smell of fallen leaves, wood smoke, and soil holds rule over this season. Colors from brown to red remind of October’s past and hope for those yet to come. It has been said in various forms that you can move away from something or a place, but it never leaves you. Mountains are one of those places that live within - mountains climbed and those ahead…
Fog blocks light from view. Trees and branches cover the immediate way forward, as anyone who has seen a mountain in the distance and tried to climb it soon finds out. The top of the mountain is hard to find while in the trees…
1From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I. (Psalm 61:2).

Month to do List - October 2025
The to-do list changes not only by month but with each season of life. Just when it seems we’ve got it down, another change comes along. For years, October meant vacation and schedule bids, project and work management, and year-end reviews. Review writing was year-round with folks on different cycles, team changes, and self-reviews. If the words and time spent counted, a few novels have been written.
October’s internet list of things to do includes visiting a pumpkin patch, picking apples, having bonfires, hayrides, and taking trips to view fall colors. The practical side is raking leaves, fall cleaning, and figuring out which season to dress for each day. Cooler weather means more baking, crock pot dinners, and turning on the heat.
This month continues to call for catching up with old friends and family while reflecting on past Octobers.
The path may seem clear, but our wisdom is clouded by what we think is ahead. Reaching the top may not be the destination. Have we considered and prepared for the journey and not just the top of the mountain in the distance?

Features and Highlights - October 2025
R Meadow Highlights
Writers are readers first. We may relate to specific words or topics, but judge content by whether it lives up to what caught the eye. R Meadow Highlights was launched last month to highlight word seed treasures worth exploring and a second read.
The posts highlighted called out to be read and received a five-star rating for content living up to its title. Topics and writers varied in content and style. Each post/writer resonated in some way to make it to be highlighted. Thank you to those who clicked on one of my posts, allowing me to see and read your work! This is not a requirement, as tags and titles are searched for things that catch the eye. However, this is how some new favorite posts and writers were found.
October 2025 R Meadow Highlights:
Congrats to all writers highlighted this month! Highlights are housed at R Meadow Highlights and R Meadow Highlights of the Month 2025.
Stay tuned for more highlights next month ~ Rosie
Highlight of the Month
The Highlight of the Month is not based on the month or a specific topic, nor is it an easy decision. It may be a tug at the heart, a good laugh, or writing that inspires readers and writers alike. The winner is the post that lingers after the reading, draws one back in, and doesn’t let go of this reader/writer.
October 2025 Highlight of the Month:
Congrats to this month’s winner: “October Tastes Like a Hug” by Georgi Kisyov

I love your opening reflection. Really no better view. I also like your October rhythm and alligmment. And really impressed by your organization and links to past posts. I know that's silly, but that takes work!
That photo right at the top is absolutely stunning, friend. A perfect selection, it says it all about this golden season.
Happy weekend to you!
